My Second Life has been pretty non-existent of late, specifically in relation to actual presence in the virtual world. I intended to complete an article for FreeLife magazine as Saturday was the deadline, but I failed.
So last weekend, I logged in to collect messages and check dates, and flatten out my land. I also spent some time chatting with my neighbor, Lillianna Bailey, who is wanting to sell a plot of land adjacent to mine. I could up my square footage from 1024m to 2048, thus doubling my prim count! On the downside, I would move from the $5 monthly tier fee to the $15, which I think I can afford but am not sure I can justify - yet.
My dear sweet Mony logged in for a short time - both of us had real life things to do - but it made the day all the better for seeing her. We chatted for maybe 10-15 minutes, and then poofed out. That Saturday night, I had a real life party to go to so no SL for me.
I'm now in a hotel in Minneapolis for a business trip and so won't be home until the weekend. Which means I may try to get on late tonight using my laptop, but that's typically a bad idea because it can't cope with SL. I don't know why but I suspect the fact that I have a ThinkPad with the Intel (i.e. unsupported) 950 graphics chip has a lot to do with it. Maybe I'll just drink myself to sleep.

Some fun time with Mony
Yes, I know, the whole Sig and Mony thing is crazy but we hung out this weekend in Mexico City and spent time doing what we used to do a lot of: Talking. It may sound weird but we can talk about anything and it goes on and on. We've invented the "Second Life ten minutes;" it's the period after one of us says "Just 10 more minutes then I have to log off" and it can vary between 20 and 60 real life minutes.
We talked about what could have been, if only I'd used my brain a little more, and ended the night - or morning because it was about 4:00 am for me - still friends and, from my side, still holding on to all the wonderful, special, marvelous, exciting, funny, and romantic things we've done together.
I'm physically (or is that virtually) in-world somewhat less than I used to be, and so is Mony. We both have RL things to do and I do a lot of SL writing and researching while offline. That works out fine for me.
Oh, and Mony dropped by the house to leave me two gifts: some paintings and a bomb. Yeah, I know, who leaves their best friend a painting as a gift? Sheesh! But she noticed I'd rezzed the slow-dance pose balls and wanted to know who had been round. Truth is that I was in the house one night and rezzed them in the faint hope that maybe Mony would appear. Crazy Sig!
I just wonder if we'll ever dance together again?

California Beach
We wanted one reasonably relaxed day so I'd picked Tuesday as a beach trip. having taken my daughters to Huntington Beach in the past, I felt it was time for my wife to experience it too so we took the short drive from Anaheim to Huntington and wandered around the town before taking our shoes and socks off to paddle the Pacific. It was a red letter day for my wife as she had never touched the Pacific Ocean before. She was convinced it was colder than the Atlantic - I suspend my judgment on that one.

After spending some time on the beach, we went back to the hotel and lounged by the pool smothered in sun tan lotion. I chilled out to SpaceJunky on my iPod and began reading Pedro Páramo by Juan Rulfo for a second time. The first time I got the book from the library but I was so taken by it that I bought my own copy in Santa Monica. It was recommend to me by Mony and I now recommend it highly.
Dinner was at McCormick & Schmick's of Anaheim, located in the Anaheim Garden Walk across from Disney. Good food yet again, washed down with a Glenlivet single malt.

Hang Gliding in Bora Bora
Last night we decided it was time to try on our swimming gear and head for a beach. After all, it is summer in real life so why not go with the seasons? I slipped into my Versace trunks and Mony wore a cute top covered with tiny slices of watermelon, bringing meaning to the phrase "looking good enough to eat.
We have been before and at that time we splashed in a hot tub, did some hang gliding, threw ourselves into a volcano, and finished off taking a shower to wash away the sand and lava. This time we simply went for the hang gliding.

To get there, look for the volcano and fly up to the crater. Avoid the impulse to drop into the magma and look around the edge for a platform. There you'll see the free hang glider. All you have to do it right click it and "sit," then use your keyboard arrow keys to navigate and your PgUp/PgDn to go up and down. When one person has left the platform, a new glider automatically rezzes so you can take a group of friends with you and play "dog fighting" above the sea.
Tragically, my day at the beach ended prematurely when my local ISP developed server problems and the cable network went down. I really wanted to go surfing too!

Sale @ Simone!
On Saturday, Simone Stern offered all her clothing for no more than L$200. With such bargain prices, it was too tempting an offer to turn down, so late in the evening, I headed for the Simone! store to see what I could find.
First up was a dark blue deep-plunge open-fronted shirt called the "Don Juan." Mony spotted it and said "buy that," so I did. Here you see it with my Muism pants and gift from Ben Vanguard - the dog tags.

My SL sister, Merry Felwitch, arrived with a giant pumpkin on her head, which was all the excuse Mony needed to don her cardboard box head. Fortunately, they left me in the men's section to go check out women's stuff. I believe Merry spent L$2000 - like Mony, she also seems to believe that God sends people to hell who have small inventories.
I found a summer suit designed by my friend Lissa Maertens. It's a pale-blue pinstripe that includes a shirt, ties, and even prim ties that flap around when you walk. It's the closest I have found to a seersucker suit and for L$200 I couldn't resist.

The suit also looks OK with a less formal open-necked shirt or T-shirt. I'm wearing it with my Redgrave black shoes but a pair of white shoes might work. Guess I have to go shopping. Again.

Dinner and a Movie - or SLTV
The house is nearly done. Mony has worked ceaselessly to create a low-prim kitchen and is succeeding. And along with the kitchen is a new breakfast bar with a couple of chairs - also designed by Mony and also single-prim object.
So when I arrived, Mony - so precious - had made dinner! Here we are in a bundle of colored dots 300 meters above a pixelated grid in a house made of primitive objects at a table with lobster, pizza, iced tea, and cake. The wine is in the fridge!

After our first dinner in the house, we sat and watched TV - we were trying to catch a re-run of the Paisley Beebe show that include a shot of a ruthed-out me hovering across the audience. It was, unfortunately, an older show, where Paisley was interviewing a frog and a fox. I could be wrong, it might have been a toad and a cat.
Whichever way you look at it, the whole experience was simultaneously bizarre and mundane. Both outrageous and normal.
Wonder what's for dinner tomorrow?

A Balloon Trip - But Not THE Balloon!
Earlier this month I mentioned that the Ambleside balloon tour was back and that caused me some excitement. But so far I haven't taken the flight and I suppose it will happen at some point. In the meantime, Mony and I discovered another balloon ride, complete with a bottle of champagne.

If you want to take the same trip, you need to go to Full Moon island. Enjoy.

The New New House is Up
Only a couple of weeks ago I talked about the new house. Well, since then it has become the new new house! Wearing her "Builder" hat, Mony has done some creative changes to the place and worked furiously to make it more customized. She's opened up the ground floor so we can add a kitchen and extended the bedroom to give even more space.

And not only have we changed the house but physically moved it. My friend Lillianna Bailey is extended her land space and I am/was her neighbor. So aided by London Sim Director Timber Oceanlane, this Saturday afternoon Timber dragged the entire house some 400 meters to my new plot. Lillianna is still my neighbor but she has more space now. And hey, I just want by skypad up in clouds and have no real concern about the land it is sitting on.

As you can see above, the front of the house is similar, but there is a bedroom extension. Take a peek at the top right room where you see the bed; that's a new room. But the side of the house is more dramatic, where Mony has added angled glass walls in an almost pyramidal style.

We still have work to do. Decor, furniture, art, and a party. But we have time ;)

A Night with a Supermodel
I think I may have mentioned that my girlfriend is a supermodel. It's true. She is Miss Latin Dreams 2008 and has the tiara and sash to prove it. And being a supermodel, it's important that she look glamorous as often as possible. This also means I have to make an effort not to dress like a total slob because what supermodel wants to hang out with a guy who looks like a hobo. So on Monday night, we met up with ace photographer, Seikatsu Koba, who took Mony on a photoshoot. I, of course, simply stood around and watched.
At one stage, we were at Seik's studios and Mony slipped into one of her more devastatingly distracting items: the red Ritz dress from Simone. my oh my, what a distraction! Take a look at the picture below - make sure you click for full screen.

I know that in SL we are just bundles of pixels but this pic has to rank as one of the most delightful bundles of pixels in the Metaverse. I think this one goes down in my scrap book as one of my new favorites. Now all I have to do is keep fighting the guys away. Sigh. It's tough being a supermodel's companion.

Something of a Declaration
If you've enjoyed the free album, Soundtrackz in Search of Moviez, then you may like to take a look at my latest YouTube offering. OK, so it's also my first YouTube offering, but we all have to start somewhere. It is, without doubt, hopelessly romantic and I assume some 99% of guys will laugh and call me a tragic case. But if you're a woman, then I have to believe YOU understand what it's all about. At least ONE will ;)
